Cemetery Management
Management and control of the Ayr and Home Hill cemeteries is a function of the Parks and Gardens Section. This section provides a complete maintenance schedule for both cemeteries ensuring the facility is mowed on a regular basis and carefully looked after by the Cemetery Sextons. The Cemetery Sextons are available to meet individuals and families on site, at a mutually convenient time, to assist in selecting resting places for immediate and/or future needs. Funeral arrangements need to be organised through the family's preferred funeral director who will liaise with Council.
Code of Operations
The Code of Operations details the procedures for interment, standards for construction of memorial graves, mausoleums and vaults. It also specifies a standard for placement of plaques, vases and other memorial memeno's in the Burdekin Shire Council cemeteries, columbarium and memorial walls. The Code of Operations and other cemetery related documents can be found in the related documents section below.
Fees and Charges
There are various fees and charges associated with the cemeteries. These include costs for reservations, burials, interments and carrying out works at the cemeteries. In most cases your funeral director will manage this for you.
