Food Safety Supervisor

Nomination of Food Safety Supervisor form(PDF, 61KB)

All licensed food businesses are required to have a food safety supervisor. This person has undertaken further training and can assist food handlers to ensure they are complying with the requirements of the food legislation and assist in ensuring the food is safe for the public. The training required depends on the nature of your business. Please see the Queensland Health's Food safety supervisors web page to access details on the training.

A licensee for a food business is required to have a food safety supervisor for that business:

  • the licensee, proprietor or employee may fill that role
  • there may be more than one food safety supervisor for each food business.

A nominated food safety supervisor:

  • must be reasonably available to be contacted, while the food business is being carried on, by:
    • the local government that licensed the food business
    • any food handler at the food business
