Community Grants Open for Applications

Published on 31 March 2025

Applications are being accepted from Tuesday 1 April to Monday 14 April 2025.

The Community Grants Program is designed to assist not-for-profit organisations, community groups, and sporting clubs in delivering initiatives that strengthen and enrich the Burdekin region.

Funding and in-kind support is available for projects that contribute to social well-being, cultural enrichment and community engagement.

Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort encouraged eligible groups to apply and take advantage of this valuable support.

“Our local organisations and volunteers work tirelessly to make a difference in our community,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.

“This program is an opportunity to provide financial assistance for projects that bring people together, enhance local services, and create lasting benefits for our region.”

Burdekin Shire Council is proud to support local organisations, like the Home Hill Tennis Association, in their efforts to strengthen the community. Kate Caswell from Home Hill Tennis Association said, “We are extremely grateful for the support from Burdekin Shire Council, both through cash grants and in-kind contributions like the supply of bins for our Sugar Bowl event. This support eases the burden on our volunteers, allowing us to focus on the event itself rather than waste management. It’s invaluable in helping us deliver a successful event and ultimately help strengthen our community.”

Eligible applicants must demonstrate how their proposed initiative will positively impact the community. Council is committed to supporting projects that align with our vision for a vibrant and connected Burdekin.

Community groups are encouraged to review the guidelines, prepare their applications, and submit their application before the deadline.

For more information, including eligibility criteria and application details, visit Council’s website at https://www.burdekin.qld.gov.au/community-grants-program, or contact the Community Development team on 4783 9800.

Applications close at 11:59pm on Monday 14 April 2025. Don’t miss this chance to make a difference in the Burdekin.
