Local Disaster Management Group Moves to Stand Down

Published on 09 April 2025

Throughout the recent weather events, efforts have been ongoing to ensure all areas within the region were safe and accessible.

With communities now reconnected, and no reports of further isolated pockets or significant issues, the LDMG is confident in scaling back its operational response.

Chair of the Burdekin LDMG Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort said the decision was made in line with current conditions and risk assessments.

“We are pleased to confirm that access has been restored to all areas across the Shire, including Jerona, which was the final isolated community,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.

“There are no reports of any remaining issues, and with no adverse weather systems on the horizon, it is appropriate that we move to stand down.

There is currently no pending adverse weather, and the Burdekin LDMG will continue to monitor conditions as part of standard preparedness protocols.

The community is thanked for its cooperation and patience during the recent weather events.
