Both dogs and cats kept in the Burdekin are to be registered with Council once they are 3 months old.
The registration for a puppy or kitten, under 6 months of age is reduced (currently $9) to cover the cost of the required registration tag.
Older cats and dogs when registered for the first time with Council have a flat fee of $26.
Council’s registration period is 1 August to 31 July, each year.
Registration Renewal Notices are sent out at the beginning of July based on the current information in Council’s database. Renewals must be paid by 31 July each year.

Council offers reduced registration fees for animals that are microchipped and/or desexed as well as for pensioners. The lowest registration fees apply for animals that are both microchipped and desexed.
