Council Meetings
The Council comprising of the Mayor and six councillors generally meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 9.00am. In December and January there is normally a single meeting on the third Tuesday of the month.
Meetings are generally held in the John Drysdale Chamber in the Council Administration Building at 145 Young Street, Ayr.
Please note that the public will be excluded from meetings during deliberation of confidential items in the “Closed” section of the Agenda.

Procedures and Standing Orders
The documents below are effective from 3 December 2018 and support Council in handling various kinds of Councillor conduct.
- Code of Conduct for Councillors in Queensland. The Code of Conduct sets out the principles and standards of behaviour expected of Councillors and Mayors when carrying out their roles, responsibilities and obligations as elected representatives for their communities.
- Burdekin Shire Council Meeting Procedures. The meeting procedures set out certain procedures to ensure the Local Government principles are reflected in the conduct of Local Government meetings and Local Government committee meetings.
- Burdekin Shire Council Standing Orders. Written rules for the orderly conduct of Council Meetings following known best practice.
