Council works at meeting its General Biosecurity Obligation through the development and implementation of the Burdekin Shire Council Biosecurity Plan 2016-2019 (the Plan) .
The Plan:
A working group consisting of government and non-government bodies, local land management groups and Council developed the plan with the draft available for public comment prior to adoption. Through community involvement in its development, there is greater acceptance and understanding of the issue of pest management.
Each year Council reports on its activities as per the Annual Action Plan within the Plan.
The Plan applies to all land and waterways within the region and targets all pest species that are declared under the Queensland Biosecurity Act 2014.
