New plumbing laws come into effect on 1st July 2019. As part of the new laws (Section 40(1) of the Plumbing & Drainage Regulation 2019) local governments can make a fast track work declaration, however Burdekin Shire Council have decided to opt-out of this process.
The Plumbing Services Department of Burdekin Shire Council can approve sanitary plumbing and drainage works as well as provide advice for areas that fall within the Burdekin Shire boundaries.
Application forms can be downloaded from the Department of Housing and Public Works website.
Council’s Plumbing Department carries out plumbing inspections every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 7.00am to 4.00pm. Inspections required outside of these days will require a minimum 24 hours notice, as stated in the conditions of the compliance permit.
