Nature Passports provide ultimate escape these school holidays
The Burdekin Library is offering children a chance to go on their own adventures, with Burdekin Nature Passports launched this week in collaboration with First 5 Forever.
The passports, funded by the Queensland Government and the State Library of Queensland through a First 5 Forever Innovation Microgrant, include pages to be creative and inspire our children to explore the local community.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said the Nature Passports were designed to incorporate natural features of the region in its activities.
“The Burdekin Library’s Nature Passport is a fantastic initiative allowing children to use their imagination and explore the outdoors through a range of First 5 Forever activities,” Cr McLaughlin said.
“The passport includes activities children can complete inside or outside at home, such as nursery rhymes, picture drawing and adventure planning, as well as special adventures to complete around the Shire including a trip to Plantation Park Nature Play and Lynch’s Beach at Alva.
“I want to thank the Queensland Government and State Library of Queensland for the resources available to all Queensland families as part of the First 5 Forever program, and for funding the Burdekin Library’s Nature Passports to encourage our local families to talk, read, sing and play in new ways and new locations.”
Burdekin Library Nature Passports are available for children under 6 years old from the Burdekin Library and Burdekin Visitor Information Centres. The Burdekin Library Nature Passports are proudly funded by the Queensland Government and State Library of Queensland.
