Memorial Park in pristine condition for this year’s Home Hill Anzac Parade
The construction of an internal pathway linking the Burdekin Memorial Hall to the Rotunda and War Memorial is set to be completed this week with concrete stencilling underway in the lead up to Easter.
The concrete pathway will connect the Memorial Hall with the existing 10th Avenue footpath leading to Arch Dunn Park. Contouring of the area adjacent to the Ninth Avenue footpath will facilitate pedestrian access to the picnic table settings with the area to be turfed to ensure that the park is in pristine condition prior to this year’s Anzac Day events.
Planning for the construction of a Sensory Pathway has commenced with an onsite meeting held with the Home Hill Community Kindergarten to scope the project. Stage 1 of the pathway will be constructed in the shaded area of Memorial Park nearest to the kindergarten and will meander around a feature tree combining diverse textural surfaces with smaller play elements to actively engage the different sensory receptors of users.
Mayor Lyn McLaughlin is pleased to announce the Memorial Park will be in the best condition ahead of this year's Home Hill Anzac Parade as it is a significant place for our community.
"I am pleased to announce that Memorial Park will be in pristine condition ahead of this year's Home Hill Anzac Parade. Our dedicated team of council staff have worked tirelessly to ensure that the park is looking the very best, ready to honour the memory of the brave men and women who have served our country,” Cr McLaughlin said.
“I encourage all members of the community to attend the Anzac Parade and pay their respects to those who have served our country. Let us honour their memory by ensuring that their sacrifice is never forgotten.”
These works are being delivered as part of Council’s commitment to the ongoing redevelopment of Watson’s Green and Memorial Park as per the adopted masterplan.
