Sweet Days Hot Nights Festival to heat up Burdekin next month
The highly anticipated Sweet Days Hot Nights Festival is set to take place on 26-27 May 2023 at the Home Hill Showgrounds.
This year's festival promises to be an unforgettable experience for attendees, with an exciting line-up of entertainment, cultural performances, delicious food and drinks, and a lively atmosphere that celebrates the best of the Burdekin attracting attendees from all over the state.
Friday night kicks off the festivities with the Burdekin Cultural Fair featuring the First Fire. This annual tradition marks the beginning of the sugarcane harvesting season, and festival-goers will have a front-row seat to the spectacle as flames light up the sky and the sweet aroma of burning sugarcane fills the air.
On Saturday, attendees will also have the opportunity to witness the Australian Hand Cane Cutting Championships. This thrilling competition showcases skill and speed as hand cane cutters race to slice through sugarcane. It's a test of strength, precision, and endurance, and spectators are sure to be amazed by the competitors' talent.
