Flying Fox Dispersal Activities to Commence in Home Hill Tomorrow
Burdekin Shire Council has engaged Biodiversity Australia to address the flying-fox issue in Home Hill with dispersal activities commencing tomorrow.
Dispersal activities will commence on Tuesday 16 May between 4:30am and 5:00am, and will continue each morning until 8:00am for two weeks.
During this period, residents can expect loud noise and should take action to secure their pets with the noise expected to be most significant at the start of the program and gradually decrease as the program progresses.
Pyrotechnics will be used to disperse the flying-foxes.
Residents are advised not to undertake their own dispersal activities during the program as it may negatively affect what the Biodiversity Australia team are trying to achieve.
If flying-foxes land in your yard please ring a hotline number on 1300 506 991.
