The Burdekin Aquatic Centre will soon boast a brand-new entrance and kiosk.
Construction of a new entrance and kiosk at the Burdekin Aquatic Centre is almost complete with works scheduled to be finalised by 30 June.
The new kiosk and entry works aim to provide modern amenities and enhance recreational experiences for the local community and were jointly funded by the Australian Government and Burdekin Shire Council.
Australian Government funding of $1.2 million was provided through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) Program.
This program supports local councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia.
Inside the kiosk, internal fittings and finishings are in the final stages with the entrance to facilitate shaded supervision of children enjoying the new water park.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said the Burdekin Aquatic Centre entrance and kiosk will significantly enhance the community's recreational experiences.
“We are delighted to witness the rapid progress of the project and look forward to unveiling the modern amenities that will benefit residents and visitors to the Burdekin,” Cr McLaughlin said.
“The modern facilities will provide a safe and enjoyable environment for families to relax and have fun, while also promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles.
“This is an exciting development for the community, and we look forward to its completion."
