Ayr Industrial Estate expansion to accelerate growth
The Ayr Industrial Estate expansion project is set to begin, marking a significant milestone for the development of the region transforming the estate into a thriving epicenter of commercial activity.
With the funds secured for the first phase in the 2023/24 Budget, the much-anticipated expansion will commence with clearing and filling of the site adjacent to the existing Industrial Estate on the Bruce Highway.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said the Ayr Industrial Estate expansion represents a pivotal opportunity for economic growth and job creation in the region.
“The construction phase alone is projected to generate over 200 jobs, and given the Estate’s current capacity, the planned expansion will offer 45 additional blocks of industrial land with 23 lots to be released in the first phase of the expansion,” Cr McLaughlin said.
“By creating more space for industrial activities, the project aims to allow existing industrial businesses to expand and attract new businesses and investments, ultimately bolstering the local economy.
“The successful completion of this project in late 2024 will bring substantial economic and social benefits for the community, fostering prosperity and development for years to come.”
Temporary changes in traffic conditions will be implemented to provide access so the fill material can be transported to the site. Motorists in the vicinity are urged to exercise caution and adhere to the adjusted speed limits during the construction period.
