Be green and great for National Tree Planting Day 2023
Council invites you to join for the National Tree Planting Day to be held on Sunday 30 July 2023 at the Burdekin Bocce Club from 8:30am to 11:30am. Be a part of something green and great!
In collaboration with Landcare, the Parkers Lagoon Community Restoration Project has created a new walking track behind the Bocce Club.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said that National Tree Planting Day is an opportunity for the community to act and create a positive impact on the environment.
"National Tree Planting Day is a wonderful opportunity for the Burdekin to come together as a community," Cr McLaughlin said.
“Our mission is to plant 200 native trees to nurture the foundation of a healthier planet for future generations.
“Don't worry if you're new to tree planting – we'll provide all the tools and guidance you need. Just bring your enthusiasm, sun-safe clothes, closed-in shoes and sun protection and you're ready to make a green difference.
“Let's sow the seeds of change together, volunteers who come along on Sunday can enjoy a free BBQ and refreshments.”
