Construction Commenced at Parker Street and Munro Street Roundabout
Construction works have commenced at the Parker Street and Munro Street roundabout to undertake pavement reconstruction and upgrade existing drainage culverts.
The intersection is temporarily closed to traffic and detours have been put in place to enable crews to work safely and efficiently.
Burdekin Shire Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said the improvements will enhance the safety and convenience of the community’s road network.
“To ensure smooth flow and accessibility during this period, the Burdekin Shire Council has implemented detours, guiding motorists through alternative routes via Graham or Wilmington Streets,” Cr McLaughlin said.
“The estimated completion of the works is early September, subject to weather.
“Arrangements have been made during construction to ensure affected residents continue to have access to their properties.
“Council appreciates the community's cooperation and patience throughout the process."
The Parker and Munro Street Roundabout upgrade represents a significant step forward for the Burdekin. The intersection will be closed until early September 2023. For more information phone Council’s Customer Service Centre on (07) 4783 9800.
