Exciting additions and upgrades unveiled at local parks in the Burdekin region

The Burdekin Shire Council is excited to announce the opening of its newest playgrounds at Groper Creek and Alva and the new Sensory Trail in Home Hill, all featuring a range of exciting equipment for children of all ages and abilities.
The new playgrounds and trails, located at the heart of the communities, offer a range of play options designed to inspire creativity, imagination and active play.
Locals and visitors to the region will now have even more reason to visit and enjoy the beautiful scenery and newly constructed playgrounds and trails.
These works are the latest addition to the community’s facilities, adding to the list of family-friendly attractions and creating a great destination for locals and tourists.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said by investing in new playgrounds and trails and upgrading existing parks, Council provides opportunities for recreation and connection.
“The new playgrounds and trails are a fantastic addition to the community and offer something for everyone,” Cr McLaughlin said.
“The Burdekin is a wonderful place for families to spend time together and for children to engage in active play, and Council are proud to offer these facilities to residents and visitors.
“Several parks in the region will also undergo transformative upgrades and receive new facilities as part of the 2023/24 Budget.
“Scheduled for 2023/24, Coutts Park will see an upgrade to the existing public amenities, Brolga Park Giru will receive a boost with the replacement of its existing BBQ Shelter and seating, at Spiller Street Park Brandon, the existing basketball half court will undergo improvements with the replacement of its surrounding fence, Anzac All Abilities Playground Ayr will undergo a revamp, focusing on replacing ageing play equipment.”
