New ‘Move It Burdekin’ initiative for residents 55+

A free initiative for residents aged 55+ run by the Burdekin Neighbourhood Centre and Burdekin Shire Council.
Commencing 29 January 2024, ‘Move It Burdekin’ is a 15-week initiative that offers low-impact exercises, pilates, yoga, seated exercises and more. The sessions are suitable for different levels of fitness and flexibility and are designed to improve your physical and mental well-being. You can enjoy some refreshments and a chat after each session, and participate in fun challenges and incentives along the way.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said she was delighted to support ‘Move It Burdekin’ and encouraged residents to sign up.
"The program is targeted for residents aged 55+ and is great opportunity for them to get moving and stay healthy in a safe, supportive environment,” Cr McLaughlin said.
“Joining 'Move It Burdekin' can benefit your physical and mental health, as well as help you connect with others and make new friends.
“I urge you to register and commit to the full 15 weeks."
