A spectacular display of talent takes center stage at 2024 Fast Track NQ Showcase
In an unprecedented display of talent, this year's Fast Track Showcase event on Saturday registered over 50 acts, with participants hailing as far as Melbourne and Sydney.
The surge in musicians and singers can be attributed to the desired Fast Track to Fame Prize, which evidently sparked a greater interest than ever before.
The spotlight shone on 10-year-old Lucas Smith, the winner of Fast Track to Fame, who will soon grace the stage in Melbourne at the Good Friday Appeal, performing live amidst a constellation of celebrities. This opportunity marks the most exclusive prize ever offered at a Fast Track event.
A local trio comprising of Riley Nosworthy, Lauren Raitelli, and Eliza Worlien secured the top prize for Best Overall Talent, showcasing the exceptional skills present in the community. Bands have made a significant mark this year, with Bowen's Slippery Gypsy earning the title of Best Group Performance.
A crowd favourite Sioeli Ma’u, locally known as Big Joe, whose effortless rendition of Tom Jones' classic 'I’m Never Gonna Fall in Love Again' earned him the Audience Favourite accolade.
Myla Jerkic at just 8 years old, impressed the judges with her self-choreographed performance to 'Do you Want to Build a Snowman' from Frozen, taking home the Talent Encouragement Award.
The event ended with fan favourites Taylor Henderson and Ethan Beckton delivering a duet that left the audience fascinated. Both guest judges were astounded by the talent showcased throughout the evening.
Judging the local heats were Glenn Arboit Cultural Venues Manager, Thom Pickersgill from Burdekin Singers & Theatre Co. and Jaye Mustard from The Voice Singing School. Their expertise contributed to an event that celebrated talent in its most genuine form.
