Prepare for Flying Fox Season
As we approach the time of year when flying foxes become more active, residents may notice an increase in these high-flying creatures in the area.
Known for gathering in large groups, flying foxes can be tough on the local trees, particularly in leafy neighbourhoods.
Now is the ideal time to trim back trees and manage vegetation around your property to help keep them safe and discourage flying foxes from returning.
Proactive tree maintenance can also minimise the likelihood of these animals taking up residence in your yard.
For more information on flying fox management, visit Managing impacts of flying-foxes | Environment, land and water | Queensland Government (www.qld.gov.au) or contact Council’s Customer Service Centre on (07) 4783 9800.
If flying foxes have already settled on your property and you are considering vegetation control to prevent their reappearance, we recommend contacting the Department of Environment, Science and Innovation at 13 74 68 for expert guidance.
