From Biofuel to Big Ideas: Industry Breakfast Brings Insight to the Burdekin
Burdekin Shire Council is pleased to announce the upcoming Industry Breakfast, set to take place on Wednesday 27 November at 7:00am.
This event will be a morning of networking and insights, featuring keynote speaker Jet Zero Australia and an introduction from the newly appointed Council CEO, who will outline key initiatives for the future.
Jet Zero Australia is a local home-grown North Queensland biofuel company founded in 2021. They are aiming to develop Australia’s first Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Alcohol to Jet Fuel (ATJ) biorefining facility in Townsville.
The project is called ‘Project Ulysses’ and will take surplus bioethanol produced from agricultural by-products and convert it into clean low carbon SAF for our planes and Renewable Deisel (RD) for our cars, trucks and boats.
To date they have committed $50 million to engineering activities with support from Qantas, Airbus, Idemitsu of Japan, the Queensland Government and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) as part of ARENA’s Advancing Renewables Program. Jet Zero will provide an overview of the facility and the opportunities it presents for the region.
Attendees will gain an exclusive overview of the opportunities this groundbreaking facility presents for local economic growth and job creation.
Additionally, Council’s CEO will share his vision, discussing strategic priorities that aim to bolster both economic development and community enrichment.
Mayor Pierina Dalle Cort said events like the Industry Breakfast are vital in connecting our local business community, fostering innovation and showcasing significant projects like Project Ulysses, which could drive transformative change in our region.
“We are proud to host Jet Zero Australia as they showcase Project Ulysses, which has the potential to transform our region’s economy and create new opportunities,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.
“I encourage everyone to attend, network and be inspired by the opportunities ahead.
Don't miss out on the opportunity to engage with industry leaders, gain valuable insights and support initiatives that will shape the future of our community.
