LDMG moves to ‘Alert’
The Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) has now moved to "alert" due to the remaining isolated residents in the Jerona Township and the Woodstock-Giru Road area.
LDMG Chair Mayor Dalle Cort said the LDMG will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as required.
“The latest update from Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) indicates that the severe weather warning for the Burdekin Local Government Area has been cancelled, and the flood warning for the Giru area has subsided to a minor level,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.
“Council crews are currently working throughout the Shire to repair damage to roads and will work to reopen roads as water levels subside.
“This is a timely reminder that if it is flooded, forget it. We must remain vigilant during these times."
