Local Disaster Management Group Moves to “Stand Down” Following Weather Improvements
The Burdekin Local Disaster Management Group (LDMG) has officially moved to “Stand Down” following this morning’s meeting, marking the conclusion of its active response to recent weather conditions.
LDMG Chair Mayor Dalle Cort confirmed the decision, noting that with rainfall easing and no risk of flooding anticipated, the immediate need for coordinated disaster management has passed.
“While we have seen some heavy rainfall over the past week, the subsiding rain and stable conditions mean we can now return to normal operations,” Mayor Dalle Cort said.
“I would like to thank all agencies, volunteers, and community members for their cooperation and preparedness during the period of heightened alert.
‘It is important to remember that disaster season is not over, I urge everyone to remain prepared, stay informed, and have a plan in place to ensure your safety and the safety of your loved ones.”
The LDMG advises residents to remain cautious and monitor weather updates through official channels as conditions can change. For further information, visit the Burdekin Shire Council disaster dashboard, disaster.burdekin.qld.gov.au.
