Mulch ready for the taking
Council is calling on businesses to submit quotations for the purchase and removal of large quantities of mulch from the Ayr, Home Hill and Giru Transfer Stations and Kirknie Landfill.
Mulch at all Burdekin waste facilities is free for residents to use domestically, with larger quantities available commercially for purchase by application.
Burdekin Shire Council Mayor Lyn McLaughlin said the high quality of mulch at all waste facilities was thanks to residents sorting waste and using green-lidded bins properly.
“Mulch serves as a fantastic resource to deliver extra nutrients to our gardens, reduce the amount of water required and the amount of dust in the air,” Cr McLaughlin said.
“There is currently a large quantity of mulch at Burdekin waste facilities which I encourage all residents to make the most of, and urge businesses to apply to purchase.”
Quotations for the purchase and removal of mulch from the Ayr, Home Hill and Giru Transfer Stations and the Kirknie Landfill are now open and will close on Friday 9 July. For more information click here.
